Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 Team Captains & Squads

The 2025 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to begin on February 14 and will run until March 15. All teams have announced their captains for the tournament. For the 2025 season, each of the five teams has been given a budget of 15 crore to form a squad of 18 players. In the third season of the WPL, starting tomorrow, defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Gujarat Giants at the newly built BCA stadium in Vadodara.

Key Highlights of WPL 2025

  • Gujarat Giants have shown more trust in Australian players in the auction, and there are no big names in this team. The biggest challenge for Gujarat will be to use their foreigner players effectively. Most of the money has been spent on Ashleigh and Beth Mooney, with over 2 crores spent on both of them.
  • Indian cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur will once again lead Mumbai Indians in WPL 2025. Harmanpreet, the first woman to score a century in T20I, has scored 549 runs in 17 WPL matches at an average of 45.75 and a strike rate of 137.94.
  • 27- year-old Deepti Sharma is the second- highest wicket- taker for the team in WPL, with 19 wickets in 17 matches. The Indian woman to take a hat-trick in WPL has scored 385 runs for UP Warriors.
  • The Orange Cap winner of the first season of WPL, the highest run-scorer, made DC the competition in 2023.
  • Smriti Mandhana was made the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first season of WPL in 2023.

In the WPL, Gujarat Giants have a remaining auction purse of 4.40 crore rupees and four slots left, out of which two are for overseas players. UP Warriors have three slots remaining. RCB has 3.25 crore rupees left for four slots, while Mumbai Indians have 2.65 crore rupees. Delhi Capitals have 2.50 crore rupees remaining.
