Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been a team of uniqueness and boldness which widely admired by his fans. It is the third most valued team in the IPL after CSK and Mumbai. Though they haven’t won the single title in their IPL journey but they have provided the crunches which aspires the legacy of the team. Today RCB has announced their captain as Rajat Patidar who gonna lead them in this season. Onto this we gonna see the list of RCB captains who created and carry forwarded the team’s legacy.
#1. Rahul Dravid
Former T20 World Cup winning coach Rahul Dravid has been the inaugural Captain of RCB. He led the team for 14 matches only because team couldn’t perform well and it came second last in the points table. They managed to win only four games out of that 10 were lost by them.
#2. Kevin Peterson
England all time favorite batsman Kevin Peterson was the second captain who led the franchise in 2009, That too only for 6 matches. After a poor season of last year they tried out different idea making an overseas captain that too didn’t worked much as they thought the side only able to win 2 matches out of 6.
#3. Anil Kumble
Anil Kumble is a legendary spinner who just blow their opponents off with his spin deliveries. He got the captaincy halfway in 2009 replacing Kevin Peterson. He lead the team for 35 matches which includes the 2010 season too. Leading the team to finals is no ordinary thing that posses the Kumble aura to the game,but in final they lost to Deccan Chargers. Where he won 19 matches and lost 16 of them. Having their winning percentage of 54 he resembled the team very well.
#4. Daniel Vettori
Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori is the fourth Captain for RCB who led the team in 2011 and 2012 season. In 2011 Vettori had the good season with the ball and captaincy tactics where he lead his team to second finals but eventually lost to Chennai Super Kings. The next season didn’t went that well for Daniel Vettori team where they finished fifth in the points table.
#5. Virat Kohli
Former Indian Captain Virat Kohli is the 5th and the most regaining Captain of RCB who led them for 143 matches where he won 66 matches and lost 70 matches. 2016 was the most defining moment for RCB and Virat Kohli who was shattering all batting records. RCB reached final in 2016 but ultimately lost to SRH who were better team on that given day. With the winning percentage of 46% he posses high stake in the list.
#6. Shane Watson
Shane Watson is a former Australian Captain who just led the team for three matches where out of three he was able to win one, due to Kohli absence he was given that instinct though being with RCB, Watson doesn’t posses any good memories, he was out of form whole season and ultimately he was released.
#7. Faf Du Plessis
Faf is the seventh captain for RCB who led the team from 2022-2024 . Faf had quite on and off seasons with RCB. Former South African captain couldn’t do much in 2023 where his team finished sixth in the table and next year he lead his team to playoffs. Faf had led the team for 42 games out of which team has won 21 and lost 21. Possessing the equal ratio of winning and losing. Though FAF being 41 RCB management has looked for some young Captain who can lead them for longer period.
#8. Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar is the 8 captain for RCB where today he was announced as the captain of the team. Patidar known for his explosive batting style has managed captaincy skills too. Recently he led his team in Vijay Hazare trophy he was seen balancing both captaincy and batting well. RCB has made a huge decision, Its upto Rajat how he uses this opportunity.
