With just two days left for the start of IPL 2025, Rajasthan Royals have handed over the captaincy to Riyan Parag in place of Sanju Samson. Parag will lead the team for the first three matches of IPL 2025, as Samson has not yet fully recovered. BCCI have not permitted him to do wicketkeeping yet. Therefore, Riyan Parag will captain Rajasthan Royals for the first three matches. He will be one of the youngest captains after Virat Kohli.
Rajasthan Royals will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium himself has stated that Riyan Parag will lead the team in the first three matches, and he is confident that Riyan will handle the captaincy well. The Rajasthan Royals team is fully prepared for IPL 2025. They were the champions in 2008.
Riyan Parag is an Indian International cricketer who plays for the Indian team. He is capable of bowling both leg spin and off spin. Rajasthan Royals will face defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 and Chennai Super Kings on 30 March.
Riyan Parag’s IPL Record: He has played 70 IPL matches so far, scoring 1,173 runs at a strike rate of 135.13, including six half- centuries. In IPL 2024, he scored 573 runs at an average of 50 and was the highest run- scorer among uncapped players that season.
Sanju Samson, while talking about Riyan, mentioned in a recent post that he is still not fully fit. Riyan Parag will play the first three matches of the IPL in his place. He further says that there are several leaders in the team, and the over the past few years, some outstanding individuals have taken great care of the team environment. For the next three matches, Riyan will take on the captaincy and he hopes that everyone will support and stand by him.

At the beginning, Sanju Samson will play as a batsman but will not take on the captaincy role. Before IPL 2025, Riyan scored 144 runs off 64 balls during Rajasthan Royals’s practice session.
