Venkatesh Iyer has been a prominent batter for Kolkata Knight Riders. Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Kolkata in 2021 and he impressed everyone with his batting at his first season itself where he scored 370 runs. His impressive and aggressive batting style captivated everyone. Next season of IPL he was retained at a whopping price of 8 crore. That season he couldn’t capitalise his form.
Still Kolkata franchise kept faith on him and retained him for 8 crore which proved to a master stroke for them. IPL 2023 proved to be the best year for Venkatesh where he scored 400 plus runs, scoring a century in it. This year IPL auction proved be the best for him where he was the third higher bidder.
Huge blow through ongoing Ranji Trophy
In this year IPL auction 2025 Venkatesh Iyer was retained at a whopping price of 23 crores. He was the third higher after Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. On going Ranji Trophy matches have been started after the Vijay Hazare season. Following Ranji match between Kerala and Madhya Pradesh where Kerala winning the toss and elected to field.

There was big blow when MP opened their innings. MP soon were 49/4 where Venketash went on to bat at number 6. There happened the incident where he just stood for 3 balls only, While batting he twisted his ankle badly playing for the shot. He was in immense pain where he walked out of the field, he is under the treatment process where no update has been shared from the team side. Kolkata Knight Riders hopes that his injury seems not to be that serious because IPL season 2025 is not far away and they don’t want their specialist batsman away from the game.
