A reputed media house reported this news in a misleading manner, which led to criticism from former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra, this post went viral on social media.

Sharing a photo, Chopra pointed out that he suddenly came across the article and found the headline explosive. However, the article itself provided no explanation for how they concluded that Riyan had paid the fan to touch his feet. He strongly criticized the journalist, calling it a new low in the world of clickbait journalism, despite coming from mainstream media.
