There is a possibility that the next season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) might clash with IPL 2025, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a press release stating that PSL 2025 will be held from April 11 to May 18. Meanwhile, the schedule for IPL 2025 has already been announced. PCB had to make this decision considering that the Champions Trophy will be hosted in Pakistan next year, making it difficult to schedule PSL 2025 in February as usual. The first match of PSL 2025 will take place on April 11 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium where the defending champions, Islamabad United, will face Lahore Qalandars.
PCB held a meeting at Gaddafi Stadium with the owners of the six franchises, where PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Salman Nasir says that an exciting discussion took place with franchise owners regarding the tournament dates and playoff venues. Over the past decade, HBL and PSL has emerged as a globally recognized tournament, showcasing the best cricketing talent from Pakistan.
This is the 10th edition of the PSL, and PSL 2025 will feature a total of six franchise: Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi will host the matches, and each team will play at least five matches at their home ground. The board says that the PCB will continue to look for additional venues. They also said that the four playoff matches could be played at designated locations.
Clash between IPL 2025 and PSL 2025:
In 2025, while Indian’s IPL will host its 18TH season. Both the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League attract players from around the world. However, this time the schedule of both T20 leagues are expected to clash. It will be interesting to see which league foreign players choose to participate in. this could be a concern for overseas cricketers, as they generally prefer playing in the IPL.
