Team India’s star player Virat Kohli is set to appear in the Champions Trophy after the ODI series against England. Meanwhile, Indian players will also be seen in IPL 2025, with the new season of the T20 league set to begin on March 21.
The biggest question surrounding this season is: Who will captain Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)? Fans believe that Kohli might once again lead the team. However, no official announcement has been made yet. After Faf du Plessis was released, RCB has not confirmed their next captain.
Virat Kohli has been associated with RCB since the inception of the IPL. He first took over the team’s leadership in 2011 and became the full-time captain in 2013, continuing in the role until 2021. After stepping down, Faf du Plessis took charge. Kohli captained Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Royal Challengers Bangalore has not yet announced their captain for IPL 2025. Meanwhile, “COO Rajesh Menon said in an interview”
that no decision has been made yet. He further said, “As of now, we haven’t decided anything. Our team has several leaders, with 4-5 players capable of leading. We haven’t yet discussed what needs to be done, but will consider it and come to a decision.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore has not just one but several players who have the captaincy to lead the team. Virat Kohli, who captained RCB from 2011 to 2013, could one again be given the responsibility. Apart from him, names like Krunal Pandya, Rajat Patidar, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also being discussed as potential candidate who could contribute to RCB.
The IPL 2025 season is set to begin soon, with 10 teams competing for the trophy. Several teams are still chasing their dream of winning the title, and RCB is one of them. Despite multiple captaincy change, RCB’s fortunes have not changed. The team has reached the final twice but has never managed to win the title. Now it remains to be seen who will be the captain of RCB in IPL 2025. Menon further said about the team that they have chosen their bowling attack while keeping their homegrown Chinnaswamy Stadium in mind. He said that RCB has selected a strong team for this season.
“Virat could never win a trophy for RCB”
Virat Kohli lost 70 out of 143 matches. However, Kohli could never make RCB the champion under his captaincy. But under his leadership, RCB reached the final in 2016, where they had to face defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
