While he was a notable pacer in Chennai last year, the RR scouts seeing his untapped potential hauled in the right-arm medium pacer for 2025. He made his IPL debut in 2020 for Delhi Capitals where he stayed for a total of two seasons before CSK reeled him in. 

Along with his ocean of experience in the domestic circle, Deshpande made his international debut last year against Zimbabwe. However his breakout season came in during his time in Chennai where he emerged as CSK’s top pacer after Dwayne Bravo’s retirement and Deepak Chahar’s injury. Deshpande, with 21 wickets in 16 matches. 

The 29-year-old Maharashtra born was also CSK’s top wicket-taker in their title-winning campaign!
